Evening all, getting ready to take some birds to auction. 100% taking the orpintons, maybe the OEG rooster if I can catch him (he can break in AND out of the coop) and possibly my two ducks. My hearts torn on this one. The drake is too much for my one hen but I don't want to have more than two because of the duck crazed fox. Though maybe if I get rid of the ducks he will realise I have chickens? maybe at auction there will be smaller ducks like calls that I wouldn't feel so bad about keeping confined all day because my duck pen would be huge for them? Maybe I can get a mob of geese that niether the fox or jackaroos working dogs will mess with

Update: the ducks are 100% going but I am going to be stuck with 2 orpinton pullets a little longer. Darn drake!!

So far so good! Amazing how fast they grow.

Total of eight, but one was stillborn. Probably will keep one or two does, try to sell some to help pay for feed, and if there are any left after that then yes, they will go to Freezer Camp.

My homestead is firstly to help us become self-sufficient. That being said, I do have some 'pets', and so does my daughter, lol!

And with the Muscovy, I'll be breeding for colour and pattern, as well as food. Combining hobby and survival
