Precious is a bit behind in development, but he's healthy and, as you can see, eating well, lol! He doesn't let the bigger chicks bully him either.

He ended up losing a few toe-tips, but seems fine with it. This was probably from when the rooster was pecking at them when he was still hatching and the egg was out of the nest.

I have a crested duck. I really don't know how that happened. But she falls over some, doesn't bathe and doesn't eat enough. I'm I a quandry about what to do with her. She's lavender and white. A beautiful girl but not right.
Birth defect? As opposed to the gene that causes it (which I know is also a defect)?

Somewhere i read that Vitamin E and D may help to mitigate the consequences of a crest. But honestly i don't think there is much you can do against a hole in her skull and a blob of fat pushing against her brain… Just keep her away from the drakes at all cost! 😓

Today the outside turned into a tropical paradise! We reached a blistering 1.5° (34F) at 3pm! I jumped into my bermudas, grabbed for the Hawaiian shirt, the pool flip-flops and went down to the mailbox, which i hadn't checked on since Thursday afternoon.
Weird, despite the high temperatures, our creek is still frozen:
full

So is our little waterfall:
full

And the water seeping out of the neighbors property onto the road is also in a solid state:
full

Truly weird times! 😜

Given the season, I know a woman who keeps the island of. Misfit ducks. I think she may be full. But ill try her. No drakes.

Liquid B Complex has helped with issues crested can have too. Might be worth trying.

Oh last evening I decided to hook the hose up so I could actually clean the water buckets, well that didn't go well every splash of water ended up solid ice so now there is an ice skating rink out in the smallest duck area. I should have known better I've been doing this long enough but I just wanted the buckets clean. Frozen poop all over too. Hopefully by tomorrow, I can actually wash everything off. We're at 8 now suppose to get up to 36 today and 60 by next Tuesday a week. Weird weather indeed.

Good Monday morning and evening.
