That's unfortunately the way things are nowadays. When I was in management, I would thank my employees for their time and effort. Guess I'm one of the last of a dying breed.
100%. My last job (6 years ago) the managers were the best, but I had many before who just saw the $$$

Would have loved to, but Management decided they wanted to make sure I was coming in to work tonight, so woke me up to ask. >.<

I gave them a few choice words about this. How am I supposed to be healthy and alert enough to do my job if they interrupt my rest? Now, I can't even go back to sleep because I'm too upset and angry about this stupidity.
Me, 20 years ago working for the same company as today, but in Germany following the e-mail of a product manager »let's talk about this person to person, call me at 9am tomorrow.« to the dot. - So i called at 9am the next day… 9am Middle European Time. The project manager was located in Redwood Shores California… He was not happy…

When i started with the company, it was kind of an unwritten rule that, whenever we had to work over night, during the weekend or on holidays it was the project duty to stay with us and provide us with Pizza and Coke as fuel…
About 10 years ago i met the new breed to project managers for the very first time: He ordered a female colleague to work until late in the morning and then left for his comfortable hotel room. That project was located in the middle of San Diego, the homeless capital of the USA and between the customer's location and our hotel was a very popular spot… »have some change mista?«
I felt uneasy when i had to work late, but my colleague was almost panicking. So i stayed with her until her work was done and we walked together to the hotel.
Next morning i got written up for being late in the office and when i complained about our PM i got another slap over my wrists for unjustified critic.
Yes, you are a dying breed, unfortunately! - Nowadays its everybody for wokeself!
Nuff rant!

Well, I DO get to eat for free on the overnight shift. Which means Roast Beef sandwiches, triple thick, usually, lol!

But yeah, it's almost like when someone is put in a position of authority, they forget that others are people, too!

Greetings to you all. Off for two days. Might sleep for most of it!

When I was a PM, if my guys had to work late, I was there with them and after work, took them to the bar...

Hillbilly, not sure why but your statement about tea brought back memories of the first time I ordered Iced tea in Germany. The waitress looked at me like I was crazy. But she dutifully brought me a pot of tea and a glass of ice. I also remember the look on her face when my friend asked for a glass of milk with dinner. An hour later he got it and it was still warm.

You are working in a restaurant. - Usually in the places where i got to work you onlyb had the choice between the customer's cafeteria (shudder!) or a 15 minute drive off-site to a shady food-source in the middle of nowhere.
Yummy Roast Beef sandwich! - Add a medium boiled duck egg to this and i'm all in! 😋
