I need to regrow another couple of fingers! - Yet another broody duck! This time one of the Black Swedish hens decided »cool, i can stay the whole day in the house and sleep!«

Did not saw her in time when collecting the eggs, so she bit off half of my left hand…

You must be some sort of lizard, regrowing limbs!

Just gave up I guess They must be reading the forum and noticed I was making them out as a little bit less super-hero-y, so no egg for me.

Today they had dandelion and plantain leaves in one of their pools, it was a big feast. Sadly they still don't care about soybeans. I'm thinking of grinding them up and sprinkling over other more popular stuff.

How do you feed the soybeans? Dry and raw, soaked and raw or cooked?

Its not the volume, trust me Karen Duck is waaaay louder!
His calls sound like a woman is calling out in distress.

I don't know if they can have a green-bill. My three Black Swedish ducks (a very representative set!) are entirely black, with the exception of their white bibs and a bit white on their bellies. Black feet, black bills and even black eyes. - Well the eyes are actually blue, but you can't see that unless the duck stares you down in bright sunlight.

Thanks, with my luck it is probably a drake. The Drake father of it has a green bill with black spots on it and so do my other drake boys so unless it changes again after this 4 and a half week old period it is a boy I would guess. I want to keep it as it hatched out here so it will be in the bachelor pad next year with the Mafia boys, lol.

Thanks, I got confused and thought you was calling Karen a he and I just couldn't believe it with all the quacking she does, lol. It doesn't take much to confuse me by the way. lol
