That sounds like there is some duck on duck action going on during the night. - Which might be the cause for the limp in the first place. If you don't have a drake, one of the ducks will become so dominant that she will use the other's as pool-floats. Unfortunately even outside of the pool…
Yes, that sounds legit since I've often noticed the action during the day, both in (or half-in) pools / basins and also on dry land (rarely but it does happen). I'm not seeing a single dominant duck, it seems kinda random, but that could be just me not yet being able to tell most them apart with certainty.

It's a fact that today, as soon as limpy duck was let out of the crate and into the pool, she immediately stretched out her neck for the other already present duck... So it's like I said at the beginning of the story with Junior, in our second purchase we got a baby and two floozies :)

Regarding those boiled eggs, I'm familiar with the benefit of letting eggs lay around for a number of days so they are easier to peel but we just don't have that level of production yet. We're moving in the right direction though. Not in a straight line but we'll get there.

You scared me there for a moment! Glad he's fitting in with the rest. They are all adorable!

Silly hooman! Ducks are for pooping!

Why not set something up on the porch like you did last year?
We turned our Front Porch into »Duckling's Paradise«, so they can spend as much time "outside" as possible, get used to weather, catch insects, eat Virginia creeper and talk to the grown-up's:

No problems during heavy rain:

Not even a thunderstorm scares anybody:

But: That porch offers no protection against predators, like for example raccoons. No issue during the day, but we had raccoons breaking into our screened porch (the one where i had the ducklings last year) to steal the cat-food. Surely they wouldn't hesitate to add a serving of duckling to the meal…

How adorable! 🥰 So, you give them Gummy Bears to make them sweet? :lau

Perhaps make their night pen raccoon proof? Double-walled, bolted down? Or at least weighed down? And keep the cat food inside.

Sorry I'm late, the traffic was horrendous this arvo
