I didn't realize there was none in Australia. Although it's a native plant here, many consider it invasive. :rolleyes:
We have plants like that here. When watered regulary (and in paddocks, fertilized, trampled but livestock because it likes rough handling) and like most Aussie natives, burnt regulary, they thrive and go nuts
 
Are they useful or just looking yellow?

No real use, but it supports beautiful butterflies
The Goldenrod can be used medicinally, particularly the dried flowers for nasal congestion.

The Sunchokes have edible tubers, which I'm looking forward to harvesting after the first hard frost. Og, and the plant is also edible to animals (fed some to the bunnies today; they loved it).

I believe the leaves of Phlox can be used as a laxative and as a poultice for boils.
