Awww, so adorable! So tiny! So WET!

I'm getting the last of my ducklings right now. The eggs I allowed one of the muscovy to hatch finally decided to. I was sure they would have earlier in the week, but nope. I was starting to think they might not!

As of this afternoon, there are four little ones. I can't believe how small they are! I'll try to get pictures soon.

From the posture and the way her eyes look i assume there is a lot of Runner Duck in it. - And from the shape of the bill i have to assume its a drake…

Finally it has started: Ducky is undergoing the process of rapid duckification‼
Almost 70 grams just a moment ago and its standing much taller than yesterday. Standing on my chest, ducky can pull on my nose-hair…

Thankies. A bit disappointed that only five hatched out of the original 20+ eggs, which was down to 11 at hatch time. One zipped but never made it fully out of the shell. Hopefully they grow quick and feather out before the terrible white stuff arrives. Or it gets nasty cold.

Get a cheap heat-pad from sunbeam. The inner pad is watertight and can be switched in three level to keep the bebes warm and healthy even in really cold weather. I used those even in the duck house for the Fall Dumped Ducklings of 2020. No fire risk compared to any heat lamp. And ducklings loooooove warmth from below.
