Had to give up the geese. Yes, the Franconian breed is silent as described but one was constantly chasing ducks away from water and food and persistently pecking at them.

I think these were not really two girls but rather a couple... The seller agreed to accept them back which I think is a very good solution for the birds. I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to "test-drive" geese without them being worse off for it.

I also prefer the ducks' character more. They are peaceful anarchists whereas geese are bossy. So I believe in the future any expansion we do will simply be with more ducks.

Makes me think twice if i really want geese. - You got them as adults, right?
Maybe it is different if they are raised together with a flock of ducks?

We have lizards but they are small, seeing something like that if I walked out the back door would be a bit unnerving to say the least. Are they dangerous?

Blanca Duck would likely try to eat one…
I filled the layer-pellet bags into the plastic trash cans this afternoon and Blanca kept the floor clean. Then there was a young black snake hiding between the food bags and i wasn't fast enough…

Goanna, actually. In Crocodile Dundee. I'm sure it was fake, though.

I bet their tails have a lot of meat. - I tried alligator and saltwater crocodile, very tasty. As people say »It tastes like chicken« because the meat (like most chicken nowadays) has almost no taste. What you taste are the spices…

WE had a plumber with the correct paperwork to harvest snakes, goannas etc. Offered us snake for dinner one night, I declined

Always wanted to try snake while living in Texas…

Greetings from Chaos and Mayhem!

As the weather ducked over the weekend, i decided to take Ducky for a trip to visit the older siblings who are just one week older but twice ducky's size.

Despite the difference in size all three still like each other.

This afternoon's snake wouldn't count as a "steak" - more like a »West Virginia Maccaroni«.

Since Saturday evening, Ducky has a new »plush family«: A large Momma Duck and five ducklings from Amazon…

Cuddling with yellow fluff-balls feels so natural for Ducky! But Momma Duck still looks a bit scary!
