Don't kill the vibe :)

In our parts the bleakest month is January. With that done, we're already close to Valentine's day and in our country we have a saying - Valentin ima ključ od korenin = St Valentine has the key to the roots; everything starts waking up.

However between mid Jan and mid Feb there is usually a week or two when freezing temps persist over the entire day. In the last 5 or so years late frosts (esp in the second half of April) are also becoming a regular feature and that's hard on young trees, the entire prunus family in the orchard, and on bees.

Ok, fair point :)

Nevertheless,

But they grow wild?
... sounds like cultivated varieties ... leaves and seed both edible for people also.
Something like this?

EXACTLY that stuff! - It infected my land through a wild bird feed mix i used in the Winter of 2018. Since then is has spreaded like a wildfire in Oregon during a hot August.
I have collected some of the seed-stands, but manually threshing that cr@p is not worth the result. The ducks don't eat it, only the smallest wild birds are attracted, but then they throw more of the seeds than they eat.

What on earth is that... Oh crap :(
It sounds nasty but not something that would outright kill you, correct?
It took me down over the Christmas weekend, or maybe it was the medication (beta-blocker)? I spend most of the weekend in bed sleeping, just stopped taking the drug today and i am feeling more energetic already, so most likely the drug. Funny, there is no name on the package, it just says »Betablocker Medication 50mg 10 tablets« 😲

*me thinking back to last year when temps dropped to -50, both F and C, they join up at around that point)*

A week or two of the "freezing persisting over the entire day" sounds like heaven! :lau
The disadvantages of living north of the Polar Circle… 🤣

-50° (-58F) i experienced in December 2009 in Red Deer Alberta. Rented a car in Calgary and there was a cable dangling from the front bumper. Walked back to the counter and told them that somebody had forgotten a power tool in the engine bay. - Answer: Not a forgotten power tool, there will be an electrical outlet at every spot in the hotel's parking lot. Please plug-in the car over night otherwise it will be frozen solid and you will pay for the damage…
Breathing at these temperatures is painful. 🌡
