Yeah, the weather here has been completely unpredictable. Still some snow/ice on the ground, mostly in shady areas or areas where there was a larger accumulation. All the birds are still restricted to their pens for the time being. I'm waiting impatiently for everything to dry up enough for me to set up some larger spots where they can range.

Only one duck is laying so far, but they're blanks. If I decide to incubate some, it won't be until late April, I think.

Oh, and I'm going to a poultry auction on the weekend.

I don't know why these flock animals are so additive!!! I need to find someway to convince myself not to buy anymore but so far I am not doing well at that. I probably should not have ordered the two little unsexed Call Ducklings from Metzer Farms but I just could not resist. I have no self control. I am just glad that my only vice is sugar and not alcohol or cigarettes. I guess I should add Ducks to that vice too! LOL

Flock birds are not like magnets where equal poles repel each other, they are more like gravity, always attracting more birds. I wonder if there is something like a bird black hole when enough birds flock together so that not even light can escape… There's definitely a point where no cat-food is able to escape the attractive force.

We have a huge Chimney on top of our old Middle School. I have seen hundreds of Chimney Swift birds come in and go out of that Chimney. They don't run into each other and they have to have sonar so that they can fly in such a huge flock. It's a neat thing to watch as it looks like a big black cloud instead of actual birds. Birds have have always absolutely amazed me with their capabilities.

The hose finally thawed and the ducks were soooooooo happy to get clean water in their pool! Well, one of the pools.

I did not even knew that a bird named "Chimney Swift" exists! It is a species, native to the American Continent, entirely unknown in Europe. Thank you very much for mention them! Hopefully that chimney will stand for ever. Nowadays the majority of new homes are built without fireplaces\, due to their negative impact on the climate in our solar-system…

You are most welcome. It is just absolutely amazing to see how many can fit into a large chimney and how they all flock together in a big huge cloud of birds.
