Ok. I had two eggs in the bator. They both hatched but one is not going to make it. So single duckling is screaming its head off. I start calling around and TSC got in some ducklings an hour ago. I run over to get the baby some companians. They have Anconas! So I grab two and head home. The brooder is empty. This duckling hatched yesterday. Where did it go? Did my cats eat it? No somehow it got out and I found it swimming in the dog bowl. One day old.

Lucky it did not get water logged being so young and in the water alone. I am glad your TSC lets you only buy 2, we are down to 3 now but I have gotten away with 2 before since the manager knows me very well as that is my favorite place to shop, lol. I hope all works out well for your little ones. So cool that you found Anaconas!!!!

TSC is less than 5 minute so the most she was swimming was ten. Now the Ancona are escaping. I just found one under the TV. Setting up a better brooder tomorrow. The pot little duckling passed.
I was not sure what pot little duckling passed but I am sorry that you lost it. Was it the one that was swimming while you were gone??? I hope that they stay safe until you get the better brooder setup. I always use 50 gallon totes that are 2 foot deep to keep mine in with the puppy pads. That works well for me as it is the largest totes I can find here.

I have a kiddie pool but I was trying to keep these close for a few days . attacked by spell check. Poor duckling not pot.

Yes she's great. The one that died never made it out of the bator she's vs y happy with her new Ancona frieds. She hasn't been back in the dog bowl.

That is why I still have my two Call Ducks I got March 19th of this year separated from the rest of the flock with a look but not touch pen. It will be August before I can let them out with the others and by then my three biggest drakes should be rehomed. Drakes can be brutal on young hens, you are wise to keep them separated. How old is your drake?
Mr Drake is 2 years old, or so we've been told.
