Happy Wacky Weather Wednesday Everybody!

First "real" frost in West Virginia last night, the thermometer showed -7°(19F) this morning. The explorers were very hesitant to leave their straw filled cave but in the end cat-food was too convincing...
Been frozen for about a week but we're having our first real snowstorm right now. One of my heaters is failing and it was 50f /10c inside this morning. Managed to get it up to 59f with the help of the propane stove but I currently only have the one tank so am trying to be frugal with it.

Ducks have been reluctant to come out of their cozy coops. After the snow ends (by tomorrow morning) I'll be spreading some shavings over the ground to help keep their feet from getting frostbite.

The geese don't seem to care, lol! And the chooks have covered runs so they don't mind either.

Happy
Tumbling Trampolines Thursday
to Everybody!
Frost has us in a hard grip this week and the duck's pond has started to freeze over…
Very little sleep last night due to strong storm gales and horizontal rain/snow/sleet.
We got all of those winds also and I woke up to no power. Luckily I set 2 alarms and my battery back up one woke me up. I got ready to go by flashlight but made it to work in plenty of time and then just as I was going out the door the power came back on. I was just glad to get it back. Those winds uprooted trees and took all of the old limbs out of ones that they did not. It is very windy here still with icy temps. All of my water buckets but the heated ones are froze over. Of course it will be 50 F here in Sunday and I am looking forward to that and so are my ducks.

Indeed, a fast-forward button to Sunday is urgently needed!

It was lousy cold here today, the temperatures never rose above the freezing mark and on top of that a cold and gusty northerly wind was blowing.
Short: It was a lousy day!
So i decided to turn the Hillbilly plant-table into a duck feeding tent, using an old tarp:
full

At first everyducky was afraid of that duck devouring blue tarp, but after i placed their food bowl into that tent they started to explore their new wind-break.

Do they use the slide?
