Of course i knew what @Luv Ducks meant! 🤣
But i am also a very opportunistic person and followed one of my best friend's advice:
»Better loose a good friend than skip a good joke!«

But y'all would be surprised how much i actually dig with my hands. When i come back from the garden in spring my hands up to the forearms are covered in dirt. - So are my cheeks and my forehead. And don't look at my fingernails…
I got a bad habit of it myself. I usually break all my nails off messin in the flower bed and have to keep them cut short so I can clean under them well for cooking at work. I keep gloves around.. but hardly ever remember to put them on lol.
Except for when cleaning dux pens. I keep rubber gloves for that. Sometimes its just easier to glove up and remove spent bedding from ther huts by hand instead of trying to rake it out.

Honestly I think the Cayugas are just as loud. They just have a bit of a pitch difference. Also,
The Cayugas quack on a more frequent basis than The calls. I swear they just like to hear themselves sometimes.
And. They get the calls going every time they start going off.
Normally they don't make so much racket.
Today what the deal is, I've been off work for a few days so been letting them out early. So every time I come outside they go to screaming at me because they want me to let them out. Especially this morning cause it's raining a bit. Dux luv to play in the rain and dig in the mud.

My Mule Duck tries to act like a Goose and Honks!! She can get pretty loud. For the past few months they are all making noise all night long. I am not sure what is up with them. I think they think they are night owls, lol. I know the neighborhood cats cruise by all night long and this has been going on ever since a coon killed two of them in front of them so I know they are nervous whenever they see anything. Also no more eggs. They are in brand new pens now and secure so I know nothing can get them but I don't know if they understand that or not. Hopefully they can relax again someday and know that nothing can get into them anymore.

Mine have also been extra noisy at night latley.
I think, it is probably because the mice come out and get in their food. 🙄

I know I have shrews in the pen at times and my Muscovy will eat mice but not sure about shrews as they seem to be poisonous. Maybe that is what is keeping them disturbed at night. Thanks for letting me know mine are not the only ones, lol.

I cannot work with gloves! I need to feel the dirt under my fingernails, the splinters in my skin and the smell of duckling-poop on my hands…

I have started to use work-gloves and chain-gloves when working with the table saw, but i hate to work with gloves.

The dux that still sleep in their house are also active during the night: They hunt the mice that woke up due to the mild weather… 🐉
My pens abut up next to my bedroom window so trust me, I know when mine are having their all night discussions about the world's problems. Trust me. there are a lot of problems because they discuss it all night long!!! LOL
