Did I tell you about all the loons on the lake?


The adults have migrated so only the youngsters are left up there. They must have decided to ruin my trip as there were 15-20 young loons in one raft.

That is unusual as loons are normally fairly solitary up there. Pairs or family groups only... I have never seen more than two chicks or loonitics in a group before.

Reading that info on Loons it sounded like once the parents split the scene the young ones hang around for a while before heading south. Maybe it was one big family of loonitics and you should have felt right at home

Oh the pain!!!!!

I am going back up there in 10 days . I doubt the babies will be there then.

They should be down on the beaches of the Gulf of Mexico on an extended spring break by then.
