Yesterday the baby Runners turned 1 week old!

I was pretty busy yesterday, and didn't get a chance to post pictures. I did take some though. The little ones went for their first splash about. Lol, at first they had no clue what the water was. The tub was on an angle, so I lifted the lower side to get their feet wet. Once they notice it wasn't trying to eat them, they went for a good splash! Of course, I didn't get a pic of that part!

The Anconas and Miss Violet had their swim and forage time too! They are all growing so fast. Tail feather seem to be coming in almost over night. A few have some coming in on their side too. I'm really enjoying their paterns emerge too. One has quite the broken up pattern. I'm wondering if it (unsexed) may turn out blue or even lavender. Okay, maybe more hoping than wondering, but either way, Terry is still my favorite Ancona. oh my! Did I type that?

I made a temp pen just using some 2x4 welded wire and wrapped the ends around some pvc with fittings (T's & 4 ways) to hold it together. It's not very pretty and needs a kickstand to not fall in, but the ducks can not fit out, and a hawk can't swoop in. Only the top is attached in the pic, but both side fit together using ~2 inch nipples.

In an effort to make the temp pen a bit more hawk proof, I placed reflective insulation panel pieces over it.

Loki was grazing on some food I threw out for the Pekin. They have been doing well, although not talked about much. The ducks seemed to know it was their food, and came to inspect what was going on.

They circled around her and she didn't even seem to notice, she's food driven too after all. The duck on the far left is not eating by the way... He's charging in!

At no point do I feel the ducks where in trouble. Loki is great with any animals shes been around and likes to snuggle the cats. When scared though, she actually looks like a dog! Notice the ducks didn't seem to give a hoot about her puffing up? Oh yeah, that's her puffed up look, so scary! A single flap of the wings would've sent her straight for my feet at that time.

I never ended up taking the drakes to that farm. The day I was supposed to I was not able to contact the owner, nor have I heard from them after. The gentleman that somewhat care for the Muscovys did show interest, but not enough to exchange contact info...

Every time I see your Runners I try to imagine what these will look like. They are all so unique!

They are, you got yours from Cackle? Ours could even have same parents All your ducks are gorgeous love the coloring and markings on your Ancona and your Pekins are so fluffy and bright white. Loki is a cutie too. I had to go back and look for the blk Runner!
