Found this on craigslist, this is the person I get my birds from... she's selling roosters now and I am super tempted  If I didn't have 4 cockerels I would get one or two but just look how pretty! :barnie
Haha. That's the way it goes with the fellas. There's always something beautiful available when you just shouldn't do it. Right now in my area on CL there is a Lavender Orph ($20), LF Splash Cochin ($20), White Marans ($20), Wheaten Malay ($100), and Madagascar Game. All of which I would happily give a home, especially the Malay. (I've got a thing for Asiatic fowls)

If I saw the Madagascar ad a few months back I would jusmp on it in a heart beat. They want $75 for 3 black hens and 1 blue roo. Freaking perfect! Minus the fact they would likely stomp the crap out of my current flock.

Win Win there. That is so great to have someone you trust help you too. When I knew I was going to have to rehome 4 of my beautiful Runner drakes back in the summer my good friend and member here @CrystaBub went and found the 4 boys wonderful homes and that was such a blessing knowing they were going to be safe and loved.

That's what BYC friends are for :hugs

Have you done much research on rooster husbandry? If not I would highly suggest taking an afternoon, and read few articles. I'm by no means a rooster authority, but have made enough mistakes to learn from them (and other's mistakes, never discount what other people have done wrong). After doing some research and following some advice that was given, I am much more confident, and our birds seem to be too. Not that it ever got that bad here, but there was a few red flags.

The flock dynamic is doing very good here now and I am thrilled about that. The truth though is that it's not hormonal season. Come this spring I plan on having some challenges to overcome. That's the main reason I recently acquired the retired hens. Is it going to solve my problems before they happen? No freaking clue. However Umbra and Sully are important enough to me to give it one heck of a fighting chance, and that alone could just be me being naive.

Roosters are awesome, just ask @RoostersAreAwesome . Actually, RAA, would you mind posting a link to your male flock article please.

Ughh! Someone posted another lavender Orph cockerel this morning. This is just not fair! Lol, last week I would have just passed right over it, but with the lav orph pullet, the wheels are turning. Quick, somebody throw a wrench in the cogs!

I once had rescued a NN rooster and he was terrified of my game/game bantam rooster. So maybe size doesn't matter it's the attitude and persona they show. lol

My toads are huge. The rooster dress out between 15-20 pounds, they are afraid of all other birds, they are so meek I have to keep them with Juvvy birds or they hide in a corner.
