I read somewhere that the trait/s for lavender feathers also caused them to have a frilly effect on them. I don't remember the thread offhand, but this lady indeed has the same feathers. I thinks it's mainly just on the saddle area, but I don't really remember what it said.

The jubilee girls feathers are nice and smooth. I've always liked this pattern, but actually seeing the individual feathers is awesome. Each one is different (okay, maybe not on the tail area, but still unique). It's much more beautiful in person than pictures.

Mrs Blue has been a fantastic chicken too. Very social, not big on being touched, but likes to hang near by when I'm around. She's the first to eat from my hand, and I actually used her to get the Orp's to eat out of my hand.

In regards to being a long term breed, I would totally consider Marans. Something I brought up to Mary was to thin down to just Sully as the flock roo. Then for the hens, get a couple more 55f for egg production, blue birchen or blue copper Marans for hatching/selling/ eating eggs. The 2 Orps, AC pullet, 2-3 LB ladies, CLB, & EE pullets are part of the idea too.

With that setup I could still produce pure Marans, Olive Eggers, fibro crosses and have a nice selection of shell colors that should be "easy" to tell apart. With the potential of some neat barnyard crosses too. All on 1 cockerel, who is not fully mature, but has proven himself so far. Plus I still get to have a decent mix of breeds, but not all over the place (lol, maybe) like it is now.

Any thoughts on that idea?

I'm still twitterpated by Sully if you guys couldn't tell. He's a gentleman but very attentive and assertive. All he has to do to demand respect to stand up, it's not very demanding either.

I just walked in on Ebby laying an egg! This is awesome!!! Well besides the fact I think I interrupted her, and she got up without laying an egg. I guess I should respect her privacy, LOL.

It's cooked. It is mostly cereal and cans and then a turkey.
