I am interested in pheasants. I believe they are very good at escaping. How was she housing them, Chris?
They where in a fully enclosed aviary. I was really surprised how social it was. It had no problem just walking up to me, talking to me, and then biting me. It bite me like 5 times... then I stopped offering it my hand lol. I did get to see the male attempt to court the female. It was not as ornate as some of the bird of paradise, but it was much fancier than our ducks courtship

I know people eat their extra drakes an ducks too but it just won’t happen here I am so attached to my ducks an drakes I’d have to be starving before I could even think about eating one. Probably send my dh out to hunt grouse.
I feel that way too Patti. I do love duck meat, but I would have to be very desperate to eat one of ours. Of the birds I've raised so far, ducklings where easily my most enjoyable, especially the Runners. If I could one have 1 breed of only 1 species, it would be Runners. Every single one of our Runners has a great personality.

Found some new fungi out by the water today. It was almost like a gel feeling. The bright pink ring was pretty neat too.

Okay, I'm really confused with this one. A'pollo had always had a black tail with brown sickle feathers, brown quills. Yesterday I noticed his top tail feather looked to have a white tip.

When I inspected him, I noticed half of his tail feathers are changing colors. To make things easier to explain, I brought out the finger paints. Blue lines have always been that color. Red lines are changing colors. You can see the brown on the lower portion of the top red line. When I pulled the blue lines back, all of the bottom of the red lines are fading to brown.

What's going on here? Is this normal?

I sure do love this little guy. He's being a great sergeant daddy. :)

There are 2 boys to choose from, but this is the one I reserved. He's larger and just has a better color in my opinion.

I want to add a 3rd female to the breeding group, but I'm not sure what. I'm thinking something with a different color egg just for ease of tracking.

So, I was sitting here having a conversation with my favorite conversationalist, me...

Me: Did I say to stay away from rooster threads?
Me: Yes, but sometimes I can't help it. I get drawn in by the titles.
Me:Stop it, okay? Just stop.
Me: I can't help it. If I see rooster and vent in the same title, I'm clicking it.
Me: You know you're not going to like what you read.
Me: Yeah but...
Me: But nothing!
Me: You don't have to be rude about it.
Me: Grrr, I wish you'd listen to yourself.
Me: I like roosters! Leave me alone!
Me: Boy! You better leave that roster thread alone!
Me: NEVER!

Moral of the story, if you don't like reading something that contradicts what you believe/enjoy/feel... Don't read it! Same goes for the people complaining about what others do with their roosters. Mind your own business, and you'll find the idiosyncrasies of other won't bother you.

Me: Whew, glad we got that of our chests.
Me: Me too.
