DO IT! I want to see baby ducklings on this page. And my duck eggs are pre-ordered so I won't be seeing baby ducks for a while.

Speaking of... does anyone have pekin ducks? Do you like them? I've heard they're loud. Any truth to that? I pre-ordered welsh harlequin eggs (my dream duck breed) and some saxony eggs... but my son really wants a pekin duck. We like to play this game on the nintendo switch called "untitled goose game" where you basically are this big white goose that harasses the town. It's hilarious. Anyway, I told him no geese, but he wants a big white duck that he can name "untitled goose."
I have 2m/2f Pekin, and yes they can be pretty loud. Big Momma cam be heard about 2 blocks away when she goes on a quack attack. I don't have any major complaints, but they are nowhere near my favorite breed. I've actually tried giving them away a few times but there people haven't followed through. Would you be interested? Both m/f pair are bonded, so it would need to be in pairs. They should be 11 months old now.

Chris, is this a turkey or a guinea (probably a dumb question but I can't tell.) Either way, it's super cool. I feel like it needs a cape. And maybe a small hat.

That is Pearl, our lone guinea with her Silkie in tow. They look like a turkey and vulture got it on if you ask me.

Aww, duckies!

I love looking at pekin ducks. I had always heard they were "the loudest duck" so I initially dismissed them for my flock. I don't know why I'm so concerned about noise since we have a good bit of land here, but we're a random 10 acre parcel smack dab in the middle of different neighborhoods (although I'm county and zoned to have farm animals) but I try to be considerate as far as what I bring onto the farm. I was so worried about my roosters when we bought the property. We only have one house close to the chicken area, and the neighbors are a retired couple. They actually came over and said they loved hearing our roos, and that they used to hear them where they lived up north before they retired, so it was nostalgic.

I may have to get some pekin hatching eggs...
The Pekin are the loudest duck we have here, but it's nothing compared to all the crowing.

The bad thing about Pekin ducks though is it sure seems like they get a lot of bumble foot and leg issues due to their size. 😔
I've not ran in to leg problems, but I could see it happening. Their legs are not that much bigger than the Runners, but their body weight is at least double, maybe triple.

That's actually not a bad idea. I really love watching runner ducks. They're a comical looking duck.
Runners are my favorite breed. Their personalities are just priceless. I'd happily trade our Peking and Anconas for more Runners. I've got 21 ducks now, if they where all runners it could be 30, easily. I bought them based on what I read on them and as so glad I did.

Well it looks like I've caught up to my own comments... I ended up falling sleep on the couch around 2:00 pm... that means I've already got my sleep for tonight... :he i slept great, but now I'll be up all night, stalking the unanswered threads section. Looking to spread my "wisdom" around. Some call it trolling, I call it entertainment.
