But those chicks will never re-join the flock and will stay with their turkey kids.

Not necessarily. I don't think I've ever had this issue. I always raise the turkeys with chicks. But, then again, the turkeys tend to get moved around with other brooders as they grow to fit in with the bigger sizes and then when they go outside, they're put in seperate pens.
