I do that for the rest of the birds, but these are inside. The misses would bonk me on the noggen for bringning soil inside, again.

She came home one time a few years ago, and I ad a bad case of poison ivy. I had to stay out of the sun for about 10 days which is torture for me. I was trying to get my garden going for the season, and decided to mix ~100 gallons of soil in my kitchen. I use about 18 amendments so there where boxes, buckets, and tarps everywhere. She made it very clear she was not happy with me. Xaiden though, he thought it was the coolest thing ever. I still joke with my wife about it "But Mommy it's for my veggies!" (I had been telling him that all day)

Actually when the ducks trampled my morigna trees, I started chucking them in with all the birds to eat before they died. The guineas LOVE morina leaves and fresh shoots. All the birds ate it, but the guineas went about nuts for it.

You know, I was pretty upset when it happened because I was supposed to sell those, and had a nursery lined up already to take them all. At 2 months old, I was going to be getting $7/ea with the nursery, or could do $10-$12 if I sold them myself. Really though, money is not all that important to me. We have what we need, and sometimes get what we want, and that's better than some folks have it. There's no need to be greedy (though I'm all for high ambitions).

In the long run though, none of the trees went to waste, and I actually enjoyed watching the guineas get all excited for their next treat. That and moringa is actually used for a livestock feed in some countries because of the high protein content.

There's wasn't a big enough dog house for me and my rash, so she let me stay on the couch instead.

I went an picked up a incubator tonight! I'm excited (and a bit nervous) about getting a hatch under my belt.

I went with the Nurture right 360. I wasn't originally going to get an incubator and hoped on just using broody hens, but that's a lotto if I'll even have a broody hen. Plus with my want to restructure the flock, I figured it's best to be sure rather than to hope.

I ended up getting a small discount on it, thinking it was missing a plug for the humidity ports, then after getting home I learned it only comes with 1 anyways (there are 2 ports).

I actually went to buy the unit last night. I got to TSC around 6:15pm with plenty of time to spare and ended up closing the store without buying anything. I went to look at the fence selections, and met another customer out there. We talked the entire time, and neither of us got what we went for. I'll tell you what though, it was a very pleasant conversation. I learned, was able to share some of my experiences, and got to hear some neat stories myself. The gentleman's name was Lee, and Lee was fascinating. He was about 20 years older than me, but that just means he had that many more good experiences in life. Oh, Lee was a big time poultry fan too!

Lee's HOA does not allow chickens, and after 2 years of having them his neighbor turned him in to pet control, and he had to rehome his flock. He went to the HOA president, and asked what the deal was. He was told... "There's no good reason for it. You can have as many parrots as you'd like, but they don't allow chickens." Lee happen to have a couple of friends that ran a parrot rescue, and decided he would foster 6 of them. Telling them "I'll take the 6 loudest you've got". He did mention something about hating them every morning at 5:30 am, but so did his neighbor. When he explained to his neighbor that he had to recoup his investment of the lost chickens via getting paid to foster parrots, his neighbor quickly changed their tune towards the chickens. Needless to say Lee now has chickens and not parrots.

I told him about some of my medical issues I've dealt with, and he happened to have some of the same issues with his digestive system. We shared a few recipes that work well for each of us. I told him how to make and use Bokashi, and he told me the same for Kimchi. I love and eat Kimchi often, but didn't realize just how easy it was to make. By the way, if you have digestive issues, Kimchi, and other fermented foods are fantastic for supporting a healthy gut.

It was nice to have an adult conversation with a random stranger. It sure did brighten my day up. Lol, even after the store closed we talk in the parking lot for about 30 minutes. Around 9:40 I got a text from my wife making sure I was okay. A TSC trip is normally an hour round trip, I was gone for closer to 4 hours by the time I got home.

As son as we parted ways I felt like I should have gotten Lee's contact info, so I am really hoping I run in to him again. If not I'll at least have a memory of a wonderful stranger in my life.

Now like any good child, I'm going to go get some sleep so I can wake up and play with my new toys! See y'all tomorrow!

Well this is not working out very well. Like any good kid I'm to excited to sleep. I tried reading to relax, but turns out reading about hatching eggs is only making it worse!
