The Quack Shack

Our rough times do help make us or break us. Having someone stronger helps us through.
I am glad you found a Dr who cares and listens Chris they are few an far between, that's for sure.

My husband being a vet and 100 disabled uses the VA thankful this one close to us is a good one and treats their vets with respect. And really seem to care.

so I was going to name this guy Charles, but I'm starting to think maybe Sergeant or General would be a better name. Check out his posture. Although I do not know what constitutes a show quality Serama, his shape looks much more "showy" than the others here.

A few Quacks from the shack!
The 2 up front are Pip and Terry, still inseparable. I REALLY hope they can stay that way. They are 2 of my favorites. It's going to break my heart if they start turning aggressive to each other. (for those who do not know, they are both drakes)

Runners! These guys really quack me up!

The Ancona have grown on me quite a bit. At first I could have gone with or with out them. Now though, I very much enjoy having them here. They are so much more polite than the Pekins.

Turkens! Okay, I have a confession to make... (maybe even 2!)
Confession #1, trusting an unknown rooster.
When I got home and put the new birds in the isolation coop, I tried putting the 2 Turken and the Serama roo in together. The thought process was that being all from the same place, they would all be affected by the same stuff, if anything. I also figured that with the Turkens being much larger than the roo, they'd be fine together. 10 seconds later I was proven wrong! He went for the brown girls, and plucked 3-4 feathers before I could get him back out.

Confession #2, loosing 2 birds... 1 bird over night!
When I removed the roo from the coop, I was pretty hasty about it. I didn't want the NN to be hurt. She's already had some issues with being pecked/picked on. In the process of securing the roo, I did not secure the coop. When I went out later to check how they where doing, none where to be found. I searched, and searched, and SEARCHED, but could not find them. Around dusk time I went looking again, and the brown girl was sitting about 10 feet from the coop. As soon as I turned the corner, she came and stood on my foot. She seemed "grateful to be saved" and let me pick her up and put her away. I still could not find the black girl though. I went back out every hourish, and then again at 6 this morning. This morning I went around shaking everything, and making a bunch of noise. I wanted to see if I could startle her in to at least making a noise. Finally around 7am, she came flying down from the tree, directly above the coop. Not only was I relieved, but also curious how many times she watched me walk right past here.

Shea! So does anyone know what pattern her colors are in? It's not a lacing. To me it kind of looks barred, but it's not a tight or "proper" bars. Is Chocolate Cuckoo a possibility?

Sorry we got off course Chris.
No need to be sorry. There is no real course for the thread.

I happy to hear about the VA in your area.
It's very discouraging how most of our vets are treated.
I've never served, nor had any interest in doing so. I typically do not agree with decisions made by governments that put anyone's life in danger. It's a topic I could talk all day about, but will keep it reserved for now. One thing I will never do though is disrespect a vet. Anyone who is willing to risk their life to save mine when I wont do the same for them at the very least deserves my respect. Regardless of my political views.

I want all our troops home. Wow so happy you found your birds and the one was able to survive the night in the tree. That Serena roo is gorgeous (General!!)I love his posture. Looks showy to me @WVduckchick might be able to say for sure she had or has them. He’s gorgeous though.

Ummm..... something happened today, I mean yesterday - I guess it's already after midnight.
I think duck math got to me or something.... I dunno, I just...... somehow I ended up with 3 more ducklings. It was an accident, I didn't eggsactly mean for it to happen.
Well I did.... but..........

Here are some pics. I had to bring them in and dry them off with a blow drier. They are sitting on my lap as I type this. :)
