I JUST HAD MY MOUTH SNEEZED IN!
AHHH!!!
THIS IS NOT FAIR!
:gig Chris, sorry for laughing and I sincerely hope it was your little one. Reminds me of my first day, at my first real base, going in to report to the commander and 5 seconds before I walk out the door DS yacked down the back of my dress blues. Of course @Grammy60 has lots of experience similar to yours, but none are our kids :sick

WooHoo! Thank you for sharing your experiences with me.

Currently, there are 2 people in my area that have the White Midgets, but only 1 has poults. One of the ads is for a year old breeding pair, but the Tom is called "cranky" and "ready for some soup." That offer is thankfully a different person than I would go through.

I spoke with the person offering them at $50 for 5 yesterday about their flock, and assuming they are being truthful, it sounds like a good source. They told me their flock is 5 years old, and they've introduced new blood twice. They also said they cull aggressive birds, but rarely have needed to. They also said their children help them maintain the flock.

I'm going to see if I can go take a visit this weekend. The poults are already feathered out so (I'm assuming) they should be ready to integrate in to my flock.

In regards to the Blackhead, at least I know it's a risk going in to it. I would hate to have found out about it the hard way.

Thanks for the pictures too bud. They are adorable! :D

To my knowledge at this time, there is no one within 50 miles of me in any direction that has them. Maybe farther than that since I've had several locals say they had never heard of them and I've never seen them locally. In fact, I had never seen a Midget White in person until mine hatched! - only photos on the internet.

I've seen a few Beltsville whites advertised, but no Midget Whites.

Finding information on the internet specific to Midget Whites is slim to none, other than background information which appears to be somewhat controversial in nature. There are a few youtube videos, but most of those don't add a thing to the conversation.
:he

Therefore, this is an experiment in progress. :lau I don't mind learning on the job and, so far, they have been quite a lot of fun.

I wanted them specifically because of the size and their purported good nature. These are intended to be pets ONLY. I am aware there are aggressive birds in any breed but that doesn't overly concern me. I will always be bigger and badder! :D That said, None of my turkeys have shown any signs of being aggressive.

As of today, the largest Midget White is still a couple of inches shorter than my smallest heritage hen. I have chickens that are larger than he is. Both toms are now sporting a little black beard, they have long legs, and are extremely curious.

Hi Chris snow does not bother me we don't get much and when we do every one panics and they don't no how to plow the roads. my chickens hate snow only time they don't come out of their coop. ducks and geese love it. I hope you are feeling better and your cute kids. and don't feel bad about losing some chicken it happen I lost almost all my ducks some quail and a baby goose to raccoons . it was heart breaking. and this happen during daylight hours. keep positive . you can call me judy.
Hi there Judy! It's nice to meet you, and thank you for the kind words.

It looks like the random bird deaths have stopped. I did have a predator death yesterday, but that was my fault. I did a wrong head count and locked one outside overnight. :( It was the Bared Rock pullet...

Feeling much better, just a bit if sniffles going on. I hope you're day is going well. :)

Patti you all are a little ahead of us this time for the cooler weather. We are 70 today but cool front moving in. We will be in 50s during day but 20s and 30s at night. Rain stops tonight so we should not have any ice or snow concerns. Hope you stay nice and warm Chris down there in FL.
Im shivering for you too!

red pepper is thought to help prevent blackhead in turkeys, no studies have been done though... I add 1/4 cup to a gallon of feed.. I ferment the feed so it sticks to the feed. Helps keep the rodents and the dog out of the feed too.
