The more the merrier! Just to let you know, we have a very tight allowance of topics here. They include...
  • Birds
  • Life experiences
  • Pictures
  • Humor
  • and anything else you want to talk about
I'm just joking around. There is no topic here, and we'd love it if you where to join in on it! :D
So what type of animals do you have? What happened to that guinea you had? (sorry If i'm annoying with all the random question :gig)

Yep, although my muscovies are trying to be the center of attention now, the pekins are now walking, they really love people to!! Will walk right up to you. The only problem is now they think my yard is their hangout place, my mallard keeps leading them up to us, although its cute, the poop isn't great to have around. :sick They also have a whole 3 acres to themselves!! Were gonna start fencing the creek up now and just make a pond this spring :confused:p
Was there something wrong with the Pekins to make them not walk? I don't know the story, but from Patti's comment, it seems like you properly helps them out. That's fantastic! :)

I found them for free of craigslist, seemed in good shape from the picture but when I actually went to pick them up they were very dirty, couldn't walk, very over weight, very skittish, and low on vitamins. I've been working on them a bit and have seem some improvement in the last week.

Unless I have missed an important post someplace - (and I just went back and read from where I was tagged and then jumped in), your poults will probably grow up and look like this.

Royal Palm Hen

Since I do not know which adult had color or which variety the parents are, I can only make an invalid assumption.

The reason I questioned the black is that every photo I have seen and every article I have read regarding MWT, is that they are supposed to be just white. Perhaps one of the other more informed turkey experts can add to this. @R2elk is great at this!

It looks like to me that there is a Royal Palm related very closely with your poults. As I said before, I am no expert of any kind; however, I would make MY best guess that it's possible they are half MW and half RP.

Price-wise, I don't think you could go wrong for any kind of turkey poult that are as feathered out as yours are.

More pics of the ones I have..... They do not have any black feathers and the only dark spots are from dirt or poo. They really do not care where they sit down. :D

I'll try and find the page I was reading in regards to the potential black feathers/markings. It also said the MW was a cross of a Royal Palm and White broad breasted. Looking at an adult RP vs the adult "MW" they had, there was differences, but mainly in size. Most of the breeders where all white, but at least 1 looked like a mini RP.

I do however prefer pure genetics and preservation. For the price point, and my current lack of experience I'm not complaining. Mutt or not, I'm going to love them. :)

  • 2 Gray tabby cats
  • 21 ducks (Runner, Ancona, Penkin)
  • 5 Quail
  • 1 Guinea
  • To many darn chicken (depending who you ask ;) )

That's grat that you've been able to help them. I got our Pekin from CL for free also, but they where in good health. Though, I think they still just see me as a feed bag covered in hair and skin.

:yuckyuck My chickens tend to follow me begging for food, they go so far as to cross the bridge over to my property :rant
