Trim - see - that's the problem. I love the bigger birds too - chicken-wise. lol. I love the Light Brahmas and the Black Jersy Giants. So far, Java (BJG) is the only one who has tried to "confront" me. I grabbed him up and carried him around under my arm for about 40 minutes. When I finally set him back down, he took off running and hasn't bothered me since. Besides, I want to see how large they do get!!Lol, that they sure do. I stared this adventure with the intent of just having some quail for egg production. By the time I even got some quail, I had a feathered petting zoo.
What are your thoughts on the Speckled Sussex so far. That's a breed I've been pretty interested in. So far I love the Light Brahma, they are quickly climbing to the top for me. Jersey Giants are another one I'm interested in. There's just something about really big chickens that draws me to them.
Our BB Marans is pretty big, and I just adore him. Luckily he has a great attitude, as I would hate to have aggression issues from him.
Oh, oh ,oh! I got to see my first turkey strut! It's not the first time I've seen it, but it is the first time it's happened here. It was so cute. All fluffed up, about the size of a beach ball. I'm not going to lie oh, I got pretty excited set down and watch it.![]()
you better watch it they are like eating potato chips just cant have one .lolI'm growing onto birds, I really want quail and eventually a peacock and peahen...maybe some pheasants![]()

Hey all, what does the egg song sound like? Is it something like...
cheep cheep cheep cheep SQUACK!
Over and over?
DiYMamma - you are the first one I have talked to that has California Whites!I have 2 California Whites @Flashpoint! One is really friendly and could easily be a purse chicken. The other is friendly also but isn't as crazy about being handled. She's also the hen we called crybaby, from a chick she's always been the noisiest.
