Tomorrow I need to chance around the coops so they won't be to crowded, chicks will go in the bigger coop and the guineas and pullets/cockerel will go in the coop with the run, thankfully that run has held up foxes, having a thick metal material as the base so I won't have to keep them in a cramped up coop. So would you think the predator was young?
. I’d say so wouldn’t you Bob? To have bloodiedthat many an not killed any.

It's a good chance. When we had hawk issues it was 2 juveniles and they did not have the precision an adult would have. I watched one swoop down in to an area that it couldn't just swoop right out of, had to land, scurry around, and leave the same direction it came.

As Patti mentioned though, it would still be getting experience. It might not bre soooo sloppy next time. :(

I'm happy most of the damage seems to be minimal. After our recent coon attacks I've kept dog proof coon traps set. I caught one the first night.

They're should be 7 more. :D
:celebrate I don't plan on using an incubator but plan on letting broody hatch them.. or give away some fertile eggs on here for prizes on the contest..I don't have a lot of space for more chickens than I have so selling them and giving hem away for the contest is my options for the extra chicks.:wee

I'm glad they were young to.. if they were, I seriously hope it wasn't the neighbors cat though, it is an option but a less likely option, still their though. I suspect it because that cat is huge, my chickens are BANTAMS and aren't even fully grown yet, about the size of a mallard... actually my mallard is smaller due to problems but she's what I call a tiny lil' thing. If it was a mink or fisher whatever it was attempted to break into the run, getting into the lav orps coop and pushing the board covering the run, leaving a bit of a gap. Thankfully it couldn't fit through :yesss:. It didn't go after my hens or ducks.

Using them for prizes is a fantastic idea!
