Not normally, but having just gotten about 5" of rain, it's going to be high until it soaks in.

Ahhh, okay. I mean 27 is pretty cold regardless, but that humidity... Uggghhhh!
Last time I experienced a low humidity cold was when we went to Ohio. It was 40-50 during the day, but the humidity was really low for what I'm used to. I was surprised how comfortable it was when the wind wasn't blowing. I was also surprised how much the wind blew there lol. All the pastures had been harvested and there where no wind breaks. Come waking around a building and get smacked with 20+mph cold wind. Stopped me in my tracks almost every time.

Yup. I grew up in the Chicago land area. The winds off the lake were bone chilling.

My chickens and ducks are stepping up their game. I have another chicken laying and my mallard started laying. Tiny brown egg found in the crick yesterday I just guessed it was from the mallard. Her eggs are smaller than my bantams

2 more of Annie's eggs have hatched, including one I thought had died. There one egg left, but I can't see any movement. I'll leave it until tomorrow. I don't want to leave the humidity to high for too long.

So now that I've seen 5 of Annie's x General's offspring hatch, I'm confident they are sex linked. 3 chicks have been black with yellow throat and abdomen. 2 have been yellow with a dark (brown?) dot in their head. I need to research millie fleur. I'm pretty sure it has mottling, but I'm wondering if it also has the barred gene. It would explain a sex link color pattern.

I made a larger nest box for her this morning. It's just a box and probably won't last long. It's a bit wider though. I noticed in the other one the walls where restricting her wings when she'd fluff out. I put a little ramp in front with slits cut for the chicks feet.

I also put a heat lamp outside the pin pointing at 1 corner. Last night a couple chicks had to be placed back in the nest. Momma has her hands full, so I wanted some heat as a precaution.

I can tell they have grown already! How sweet Chris. Look forward to seeing the new chicks too.

Good Morning cold and windy here too and we have today to begin drying which will never happen since they are calling for snow in the morning then rain again starting Thursday through weekend. We're in monsoon season! Sure wish we could send some of it to Australia.
