Yeah, it's common enough that there little shock value left in it to me. At one time I was pretty heavy in to body modification. At me peak I had 11 piercings above my collar and only 2 where my ears. You know when you see a mother grab her children just in the site of a weirdo? I used to be that weirdo. ;)
 
Holy crap, just heard a pack of coyotes. I just happened to take my headphones off and you could hear about five or six of them screaming. I've heard reports of them being in our county, but no attacks or sightings nearby that I'm aware of. The poultry should be pretty safe at night, but my dogs sure aren't when they go out to potty.

Does anybody know if something like lights on sensors would be enough to scare a coyote away?

We have them in our area too and they usually don’t bother us but of course it’d be concerning with the little dogs though. Lights may work. Oddly I was just reading though that usually people think they hear more than there actually are and frequently double it. Thought that was interesting. So it might only be 2 or 3. But of course still concerning!! Lights would be worth a shot.
