My morning is not going well.

The emus got out. The new male somehow managed to bring part of the fence down. Ciara got out but didn't go far and was relatively easy to get back in.

The male, though. He took a walk. We finally found him across the road in the woods. Catching him was great fun. At one point I had ahold of him and he struggled so hard I actually fell over - but I didn't let go. During this, he managed to kick and get my shoulder. I have a terrible welt coming up.

Then as we were walking him back, he managed to kick a little sideways. Luckily I saw it coming and moved so he didn't make contact, but he got my shirt and literally sliced it into shreds. Right over my stomach too. Very glad I dodged that one.

Now I'm spending a billion dollars on new fencing so he can't do it again. Gonna run around and get that stuff now, then put it up.

Oh, and I only got two hours' sleep.

He is on my crap list.

This male is just a spaz. I didn't pick him out, the seller just grabbed one and delivered.

If he keeps up like this, I'll sell him once I get another male raised old enough to breed. Hopefully he settles down.

It is also coming into breeding season, so there's hormones to consider too.
