They are our working dogs. They have lived in supervised harmony with the chooks for 5 years. The one who got hold of the duck is the only one thats expressed interest in them before so he was never allowed out when they were (my husband thought it would be fine for 5 seconds) the second one was tied up, the hen ventured into his clutches unfortunately. I've put it down to boredom from the dogs being unable to work from harvest and rain. A run burns some energy but doesn't ease the need to chase. The maremma has proven completely useless in all of this. The duck is healing fast, but she's very cranky with me for sticking her in a crate.Whose dogs are these @Muscovy Wunda sure don't sound like your poultry are safe around them.
