My ducks don't sit sadly. Use electric incubator.

There's afew chook people over here whose hens only sit at night but the eggs hatch perfectly because the daytime temp is around 100f (38c). Feb heat waves, when ducklings would be in a brooder are anywhere between 104f (40c) to 118F (48c) I could bring them inside but stinkly ducklings inside for days on end....
I raise 12 or less ducklings at a time when they're to be raised indoors (winter). The first week, I have them in a big plastic tub with soft bedding. After the first week I move them into the bathroom in the bath tub. A doggie pad is used on one end under a light while the other end, where the feed and water are, is bare. Daily the tub is cleaned by removing the pad, turn on the water, rinse, scrub, and rinse again. As the ducklings get bigger I let them swim, dive and clean themselves. The tub is drained, wiped, and a new pad put down. I find this a lot easier than anything else I've tried. Yes, it does get smelly, but not as bad, and the cleaning is a whole lot easier. When the ducklings are three weeks or older, depending on the weather, they are moved outside. In 3-4 weeks the ducklings have developed enough body fat that they easily withstand our winter temps. I've often seen them splashing/playing in their kiddie pool when the outside temperatures were just above freezing!

I have pure breeds but no rooster to go with the hens. And the last few years no fertile eggs. :(
My oldest roo is my very first roo and I had game when I first started because we adopted a Mama hen and her 10 chicks that were dumped where my dh worked at the time. My little OEGB roo has 1 OEGB hen but he never mates with her. My chickens are weird. lol

I hope your little Phoenix hen will be okay, she is beautiful ❤️

She ate and drank this morning. Weight is good, no diarrhea, and has no other symptoms other than listlessness and a pale comb. I have her separated for now under observation. She's a tame little girl and I plan on bringing her into the house out of the chill and damp of outside.

Thank you for the kind thoughts.

I wish I could brood them in the tub, but we have one of those silly (read: dangerous) shower bath set ups. Though maybe I should record the temps of the old outside bathroom and see if it would be cool enough 🤔

Happy New Year to one and all. May 2022 bring you good health, peace and happiness! 🥳 :hugs
Happy New year to you and everyone. A worrisome day; January 1st, 73 F, more severe storms and tornadoes possible, 100% chance of heavy rains, flood watch, and... Not good.

January and I fed the animals wearing just shorts. Just crazy! We just had severe weather and power outages with heavy damage and deaths. For those not in the south-east, remember us in your prayers and well-wishes.

My little dog is in labor that has gone on longer than usual. My wife says there isn't anything to worry about-yet. I hope she's right. Kimmi is great with the animals and has experience as a vet assistant.

The phoenix hen is not better, or worse. It's hard to know what to do for her. I think a mild antibiotic may be helpful. I think we'll try ACV.

Sorry for the negative post. It does help to type this as it gives my mind something to do. I'm afraid the new year isn't going to have a good start; a bad omen for the times to come.
