@Canadian Wind - Btw: That was the Turkey Vegetables soup that i cooked out of all the excess of cut vegetables, all the good turkey-juices that had collected in the pan and the uneaten vegetables from inside the turkey. Yes kind of fat, but very nutritious! And it warms up the humon that was working outside, cleaning the gutters without wearing a jacket or even a sweatshirt…
Two more chicks hatched last night/this morning, from the second batch of OEGB eggs I incubated. There are three more that could potentially hatch. And then one final batch (in the incubator) due around next weekend. Oh, and the eight that one of the hens is diligently sitting in the cage, lol!
With DD's blessing (I think she's too sick to care, she caught my cold) I'm picking up some coloured egg laying pullets today. Why such a cumbersome appellation, you may wonder? Because an Easter Egger is not a breed! Nor is a Labradoodle! Or any of these mixed breeds made to sound fancier than they are! LOL!
I sure did love my EE"s they laid the prettiest blue eggs too and sweet-natured. My last one of 8 died this past Jan she was going on 9 yrs old.
Congrats on the chicks!
Got them home and settled in temporary accommodations. I'll try to get pics later, but there are two blues, one black, one partridge, and one buff-type-thing. They guy I got them from wasn't able to catch the pretty blue spangled I wanted >.<
