What do I need to know about peacocks and chickens? Besides thefact that given the chance, peacocks will live at your neighbours

Well, the limping duck bathes in the morning, rests in the crate over the day, bathes in the evening, walks around a bit with the others with very few problems, goes beautifully through the entire orchard to the house and.... in the morning is limping heavily again. This is the second night with this kind of experience. So I think an overnight crate inside the house is in order.

@WannaBeHillBilly sometimes we just like boiled eggs - for example as something to add variety to a salad. Peeling boiled eggs is a pain generally but with soft-shelled ones it's super easy. So instead of being a bit problematic they become a benefit.

I have found that if I boil mine for 10 minutes, run cold water over them and let them sit for 10 minutes, crack the shells all over, the shells come off easily. I have done this the last few times I have boiled them which is weekly and it has worked like a charm for me. I had lost this thread and just found it again this morning. I love the ducklings and have missed seeing and hearing about everyone. So happy I found it.

Also, if you have an egg puncher, this works on fresh eggs.

I also eat a hard boiled duck egg a day and my blood work improved as they have so much good cholestrol in them instead of the bad.

Smokey is in the back, and bandit is up front. Both most probably males because not a single quack out of either of them. And I have babies half their age quacking like someone is trying to murder them!

Someone on here had one that flew away and never returned. I would think that might be a concern. I guess it is not good to clip them either so unless the pen is large and covered I would worry about that. They are also very loud and need a lot of room. My old boss tried to give me a couple but I don't have the space and have neighbors close by so I told him I couldn't.

From the size of the egg he hatched out of, Bandit is most probably 1/2 Khaki Campbell.
It's anyone's guess as to what Smokey is. Both were most probably fathered by my blue 1/2 Pekin drake though.

I think that Mutts are some of the prettiest and fun because to watch them grow and try to figure out what they are made of is interesting. I rehomed my Black Swedish that I wasn't sure who the Momma was. I rehomed the Black Swedish Call drake along with the Blue Swedish I had also. Now I only have 2 drakes after letting 7 of them go down the road a couple of days ago. They are Mallard Calls and so far all is good with everyone together, 11 hens and 2 Little Drakes. Time will tell if they will continue to behave themselves or have to go back into drake jail. The only got a pardon because there was only 2 of them, lol.

Yes my pastors flew away and never returned. Though they believe it flew back to its first home as one day one just showed up at breeders silos. We have tennis court so plenty of room but it is not covered. I am wondering if they are watch dogs like guinea fowl because that would be fabulous!
