THey aren't happy. Poor things had free range with 50 other peafowl before coming here, and getting locked up so they don't fly home. Would it be cruel to clip their wings? My heart says yes but I feel like them locked up is crueler. The tennis court is very secure (besides no roof)View attachment 3598624
They are lovely!!!

I don't think it's cruel at all, until they learn that this is now home. They would probably be happier.

That plastic poultry fencing is less than 25 A roll at TSC and you will have a lifetime supply. It will not keep out any predators but if you have extra 2 by fours you can set it up with some fencing or construction stakes and then lay the 2 by 4 s on the ground and staple the bottom down. If you have some 4by4 pieces you could make smaller steps between the bigger ones. Those little guys can jump pretty good.
I have a full roll of 2 feet wide chicken-wire. That and some plastic fence posts shall do. They won't be in there overnight and i assume they will be too scared to break out - at first i guess...

I knew you had to have that all figured out since you have had ducks for quite a while. How is the Peacock doing? Still hanging around?? You have beautiful ducklings by the way.
Mr. Peaduck is still around and i am thinking about where to keep him over the winter. He goes into the duck-run to eat layer-pellets and he loves to roost on the interior ½wall inside of the duck-house. - Have mercy with the poor raccoon who tries to sneak into the duck-house to steal eggs! Mr. Peaduck killed an Opossum that strayed too close to a sitting duck…

Are these girls or boys? Or is it a breeding pair?

Some people claim that you should not so that they can get away from a predator but I have to clip all om ducks so that they don't fly into a predator's yard. I think they would be happier being clipped and having freedom myself.
As written earlier, i don't want to be on the receiving end of Mr. Peaduck's toenails and spurs! - But he is fully grown and @Muscovy Wunda 's are younglings…

Sorry for my absence, out of the blue all of my three current customer's required baby-sitting at once this week… Plus the ducklings and ducknagers have outgrown their baby-feeder and -waterer 👍🏻 Which also means more poop and mess 👎🏻

And harvest season has started with a tomatonami - the ducks love it!
And once again, the ducks have planted the better tomato-plants, have you ever seen a striped tomato?
