Can it be WINTER tomorrow⁉

I am exhausted!

Having Nightmares with ducklings pecking at me and they are continuously peeping and PEEPING and PEEPING

Went into the duck house to collect the eggs and heart the most heartbreaking peeps of my life. A desperate little duckling ran to me, hopping around my feet, begging to be picked up and being cuddled
full

This little guy must have been all alone in the duck house since i let the ducks out this morning. It is the most self-confident little guy i have ever experienced, less than a day old and it knows how to eat and drink and catch flies.

Look how green Slovenia is...
Are you living somewhere in the mountains?

Even the kiddie pools are green! :)

We live fully in the plains - western edge of the Pannonian basin, 600 ft above sea level.

It's just that this year we've had an unusual amount of rain; in the capital city Ljubljana which is located at the middle of the country there's been +15% rain vs. long term average and highest since 1948; in the east, where we are, there has been even more. Slovenia's problem this year is not drought but flooding.

After being almost frozen in place yesterday, on the arrival day, the geese are now exploring the orchard. The ducks are somewhat worried. When they see one coming they get out of the way and make loud comments. I think it will turn out that this description really works - https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/the-difference-between-duck-geese.1551702/

They did stay peacefully in the same coop overnight though and the number of duck eggs was not affected -- very glad about all of that.

Your new
The geese are here.

Following the seller's experience (he has geese, ducks and chickens) we just brought them into the duck orchard, no separation.

The ducks ran up to them and tried to talk but the geese didn't understand. They were very cautious, having suddenly landed on another planet after travelling in a closed box.

An hour or so later they declared one of the kiddie pools goose territory and are actively driving away any ducks that want to jump in. They are also sampling grass and some corn. The ducks seem kinda offended and are pretending nothing is happening.

During the first hour they honked once. But they are still somewhat schocked from the journey so this is not yet a representative sample I'd say.

The big test is, I guess, the first night - will they go into the house and will they all stay inside peacefully. If it goes fine that's sorted.

As to whether they really are two girls, well... "One is definitely a girl and the other is in all probability a girl." - So I guess we'll know in the spring :)

Your new geese are beautiful. Yes they will be in charge of everyone, they will even break up any hanky panky going on with the ducks. They like order. lol My goose has adopted the 12-week-old Runners my Muscovy hatched, When she gave up mama duties when they were 10 weeks old my goose Missy has taken over. They follow her around like she hatched them.
