Even the kiddie pools are green!

We live fully in the plains - western edge of the Pannonian basin, 600 ft above sea level.

It's just that this year we've had an unusual amount of rain; in the capital city Ljubljana which is located at the middle of the country there's been +15% rain vs. long term average and highest since 1948; in the east, where we are, there has been even more. Slovenia's problem this year is not drought but flooding.

Sounds like your weather pattern follows ours with a six month delay. We've dried out from flooding. Rainfall lower than average currently but thats completely normal after a length of wet

The animals seem to think this is an orphanage. Had a fox drop her baby under the house one night, she tried to replant it under there again 2 days later (no, you can not shoot under this house without causing grievous bodily harm). And today, as the lambys were calling for dinner, a third lamb came from who knows where and joined their bleeting! He's the one at the back looking at camera. Safe to say he is very concerned about people. His mama better be coming to retrieve him

After being almost frozen in place yesterday, on the arrival day, the geese are now exploring the orchard. The ducks are somewhat worried. When they see one coming they get out of the way and make loud comments. They did stay peacefully in the same coop overnight though and the number of duck eggs was not affected -- very glad about all of that.

Now the geese are slowly starting to be the boss... The ducks are ducking when they meet them

When offered corn, buckwheat, oats and crushed apples they cleaned out everything BUT the corn. That was a surprise. But hey, they're eating and seem happy.

Corn was my gander's favorite treat. Maybe they will grow to like it.

But why? - During winter none of my ducks would go broody!

I am so fortunate. I have a Broody Muscovy and when I went to get her eggs under her today she actually let me have them. No pecking, Just me having to budge her as she was not moving but I was able to get the three she thought she could hatch even though they are not fertile anyhow. She is such a Sweet Duck. Her name is Oreo named by my Grandson.

There is one duck that's the designated guard-duck ... She has been very silent for the last couple of weeks as all was OK and no perceived danger... but now she is spending all day yelling MIND THE GOOSE

This is day 3 and the geese have learnt to go into the duck house at night. They take their time, preferring to stay in the pool even as the ducks have already got themselves packed up; but when they see me coming they head straight for the house. Good progress.
