Tell you what. You come over here and take care of mine through the winter, and I'll go over there and ruthlessly grab every single egg the day it gets laid. :p
I like to see you diving through poopy straw every day! - These ducks are smart and have two strategies:
  1. Hide the eggs deep in the straw for a couple of days, then build an impressive nest, dig the eggs out and switch to Duckzilla mode.
  2. Build a large nest and invite all your sisters to lay in it, then sit down and switch to Duckzilla mode.
I did what i could to prevent ducklings this year, but those ducks are too smart...

I know what you mean Frank. I too have had that happen where they have out smarted me. It's like an Easter Egg hunt every day and sometimes the ducks win. lol

Again today I moved my Muscovy Oreo's head to get to her egg as she thinks she can hatch it and it is not even fertile. She just looks at me and then lets me have it. She could so easily bite me but she doesn't. I got her when she was 3 months old and she is a year now. She is the best Muscovy Duck a person could ever ask for. I am so fortunate she does not like the taste of my hand, lol.

I can't believe its Friday again! - Where has this week been hiding?
On Labour Day, i was busy with the bees 🐝 - Finally i had a chance to open the hive only to find the top honey-box completely empty and just 2½ frames of honey in the second one. Not enough to use the centrifuge, so i went with the old, manual method of scraping the frames with a spoon - here's the result:
full
Then using a kitchen sieve and a funnel to filter out the honey:

The final result, five jars of dark honey:
full
Plus another ½ jar after squeezing out whatever possible from the wax.
