Congratulations! Wow, what a loud bunch!

I love how you can here the relief and joy in your voice. Hope they got a good treat for finally coming home.

Yes, they are deafening!
And another yes, they got a warm duck-soup for dinner yesterday evening with plenty of cabbage, peppers, catfish feed, oats, wheat and catfood.
It took them a couple of hours to become familiar with the house again, they still haven't re-discovered the upper level, but this morning, after fencing in the duck-yard, i opened the door, they came out, quacked, looked at their feet, turned around and waddled back into the house/run. Now they're sitting in the house and run, doze and occasionally come out to check if the white fungus is still out there...

Next few days are going to be rough here. My furnace stopped working, and no idea why. And of course, the coldest days of the season are upon us. Temps in the minuses for you Fahrenheit folks, and for the rest of the world around -21 Friday. High on Friday of only -16. Birds will be fed and allowed out only to stretch their legs.

As for me, I've got a new oil radiator helping out, as well as an upright heater, but even with those two it's currently about 52f / 12c inside my trailer. I'm wearing longjohns and sweatpants, a t-shirt and hoodie with the hood up, a blanket AND my winter coat over my legs, and a fleece jacket over my back. I may resort to gloves if it gets any colder in here.

Are you talking about your propane heater that stopped working? - Propane bottles can literally freeze in cold temperatures.
Man, running those electric heaters is expensive! - You need a woody for next winter.

We're in this with you as that is where I am too. I just pray that it skips us and we don't get much. I hate shoveling and am not looking forward to it. Good luck Frank with your flock, hopefully they will make their way up to their coop and stay there.

In watched Ryan Hall on YuckTube and it looks like you're more or less off the hook, but eastern Kentucky and West Virginia will be hit the hardest this time:
There are two systems converging, a cold and dry one from the north and a warm(er) wet one from the south-west and they will meet right here on top of my head. Guess what you get when you throw cold dry air together with warmer moist air? - Lot's of percipitation…

If we really get 8 inches of snow here, the thawing next week will end in a disaster...

I just found out that the waterline to the dux-run froze and they were out of water. I just hope the sill-cock is not damaged...

I like your map better than what our weather people are telling us Frank. They are still warning about inches of snow coming tonight into tomorrow and saying schools will be cancelled. I never get the notice in time to stay home though as I leave early in case I have car problems. Hopefully yours is right and the people here are wrong.

Well, turns out everybody was quite wrong:

The storm was supposed to be more compact and more focused, but turned into a large blob reaching from St. Lois to almost Washington D.C. and from the great lakes south to North Carolina. So North Carolinas north-west got the brunt of the wet and heavy snow - that may has hit you @Miss Lydia - i hope the pink stuff (ice and sleet) will stay to your south…
We here have been lucky so far being in an area with light on/off snow so far whilst to the north of us the Parkersburg area was hit very hard. I assume @WVduckchick got a lot of snow delivered tonight.
@Luv Ducks - as four your area (South of Columbus, right?) it seems you dodged the bullet too, yes snow, but with interruptions and lite percipitation.
Good thing is that the wind was kept down by spreading that system over multiple states.

I am East of Columbus and we are getting snow as I speak and have over an inch on the ground. It will be fun driving the bus in as the roads have not been touched. If they put us on a delay or cancel it will happen after I am already there because I am an early bird, lol.

Thanks my friend, I made it halfway to work before I got the call that they cancelled. The roads were absolutely horrible and none had been touched. I made it back home though so God is Good. It is still snowing here and I don't plan on leaving now until it gets better. Stay safe everyone and be careful taking care of your flock.

Thank the Good Lord you made it home safe. We haven't had any more snow [yet] they are still calling for UP to 4"or more depending on where you are in these mountains but what we got the other day is now ice. Thank goodness for ice cleats. Wind chills 15-20 below sure doesn't sound like a fun outdoor weekend.
