@Magnolia Ducks - Its all your fault! I am addicted now:
full
The dux were right when they told me that things coming out of muddy ponds are yummy! 🤣

I know what you're talking about! - I would have hesitated to cough up $180 for any duck, but it was the Blanca Duck. Even though everybody was bitten, scratched and hit by her, they all loved her at the animal-hospital. 🧡
i do have a good vet and have taken ducks and geese to him in the past. like when buttercup ( blue runner) broke her leg. that was 480. husband says no spending anything right now. i believe God will heal Poppy. her 2 weeks of nebulizer is over and she’s back out with the flock full time as of today. if i do feel the need to treat her anymore i can use colloidal silver , husband made some.

Have you been in my thoughts? - Colloidal Silver!
Some of my dux have eye infections on and off since spring last year. I am treating those with antibiotic ointment, Ofloxacin eye drops and "Terrormycin" (Terramycin) ointment and it keeps coming back. Mr Chapu Duckman's eyes were fine a week ago and today they are all red again and tearing. 😟
So i thought about using something more drastic and remembered that i was treated with "Silver Eye-Drops" when i had a tenacious eye infection as a child. I also remembered that those eye-drops burned like hell. 😱
@casportpony @
Has anyone ever treated birds with "Silver Eye-Drops"?
Is Silver safe for eyes?
I know there is nothing able to restore clear vision, once the eye became cloudy, but the ducks are experiencing discomfort and even pain and i want to help them as much as possible.

I am always shocked when you tell about Blanca Duck biting people. I have had ducks for over 3 years now and never had one try to bite me. Even when I had to amputate the prolapsed Call Duck's private part I never got bit. I don't know why all of mine over the years have been so sweet. Between the ones I have rehomed I have had well over 100 of them. I guess I am just Blessed.

A natural treatment for worms and all kinds of nasty parasites are hot peppers! - Seriously! The ducks (and all other birds) don't taste the Capsaicin, so they enjoy even the hottest peppers, worms on the other hand are being killed by that stuff. Its one of the examples where animals and plants greatly benefit from each other. The birds get a free meal and some natural medicine and help the pepper-plants to spread their seeds over a wide area. If Poppy likes to eat peppers, try some Jalapeños or Habañeros. Just be careful when you cut them up... 😭
Hot peppers are also great to deter wabbits, deer and raccoons.

I've been saving the seeds from squash and pumpkin (which is a type of squash anyhow). I just have to stop *myself* from eating them!

Do the peppers work on foxes? 🤔

Had to buy

You amputated a drake's penἱs?! - I would not have a clue at all how to perform any kind of surgery on one of my ducks… r.e.s.p.e.c.t.

As for the Blanca Duck's attitude: She is over five years old and during her life she has seen a raccoon taking one of her sisters away, a hawk killing and dismantling a young drake, foxes sneaking around the duck-house in twilight, ducks being dognapped at least three times, crows and hawks taking out ducklings and ducknagers, even more raccoons, feral cats and and and…
She saw a lot and she learned a lot, especially she learned that when you are a duck you may only have one chance to defend yourself, so she immediately goes for the most pain and/or damage. Erpelchen Drake can tell you a story about her
In the meantime, she hast started to enjoy cuddling with me for some minutes after her bath, curiously watching a duck video on the computer, while i apply GoldBond to her right foot. She has managed to create a scab on her right foot joint…
