I realized why the ducks were talking so much this afternoon…I forgot to rinse and refill the pool :gig They were mad! It wasn’t two seconds after I turned my back and I heard splashes.
My duck would not be done talking if i dare not to fill up their water bowls twice every day! Very likely bad things would happen to me…
Not filling up the bowls comes right after not distributing enough cat-food. :lau

Thanks Frank, now I won't have them on my best loved birds list either. I know it is the balance of nature but its just so hard for me to love something that takes out innocent baby ducklings. It's just me. I know snapping turtles, snakes, and a thousand other things can get them but I can still not like them for doing it. I don't hate the animals that do eat them, I just hate what they do.
I don't hate, i just do my best to keep them away from my ducks…

I remembered the water buckets at least!

That’s right, you give them dry cat food as a treat! I couldn’t remember who did that. Is there any particular brand you give them? It’s for extra protein right?

i am trying out using these plastic shelving unit “tables” as second story sleep areas for the ducks that like to jump up on them . ( my khakis and golden 300s ). they don’t need a ramp at least for now they always fly up on and off tables anyway and i’ve seen them on them in top of the cages i was using for newcomers. and of course, some of the other ducks love to hide underneath them in the corners . they are lightweight and easy to move to clean underneath. I flipped them over and put the legs in the other side so that the top is concave and makes a nice little space for one or two ducks . This might be a good solution to my space problem presently four of my ducks are in my basement hospital room so there aren’t any issues but when they come back outside, I am hoping to avoid night time fights from overcrowding.
If worst comes to worst, I can always let a few ducks sleep in the hospital room at night anyway. I’m thinking about adding a third shelf table as well and finding something the right size and shape for on top instead of a towel lol

Cat food is cheaper than meal-worms! I have ~50 ducks and buying meal-worms for all of them would break the bank.
I bought 9lives daily essentials until about two years ago when the prices began to inflate. Nowadays i use the Rural King's house brand:
