I just put another bag of shavings into the ducks pens. It is really nice and thick now as I had just put some down a few days ago. Hopefully they will stay in their shelters where their food is and the warmth. They don't seem to mind the snow though.
Wait until they find out that they can jump into the buckets and make a total mess…

I just hope if we get the weather we are supposed to get it comes enough before morning to cancel school. I can't tell you how many times it will be late coming and start just as we are leaving the garage in our buses and then we have to still drive in it. My kids are great though, all I have to do is tell them it's not a good morning and I need them to be extra good and for the most part they are. I have been blessed to be able to keep it on the road for many many years and out of the ditches.
I don't want to imagine an accident with a fully loaded school-bus! I really despise the impatient who pass a stopped bus despite signaling that you shall not pass, endangering the kiddos just to gain five minutes…

We have cameras on the outside of the bus that catch the plate numbers and it is a 500 dollar fine here so most of them think twice before they do it.

Wonky Winter Weather Monday
to Everybody!

Vladolph the winter-storm is a very sneaky one, in fact it does not deserve to be called storm as there has not even been a breeze here!
It just started with a slight dusting yesterday around noon, then it turned into snow, more snow and thicker snow, so we ended up with about 20cm (7.8") on the ground. Overnight the snow morphed into freezing rain and at the moment we are back to heavy snow. A terrible combination for the DUX! They have all retreated into the DUX fortress after trying to run uphill to their pond, slipping and sliding back down on their feathered butts.
Here are some impressions from yesterday:

We got enough snow that the bus did not go down the road. We got our driveway shoveled out but it is blowing and snowing still so I am not sure how much it helped. It is better than it was. The ducks will soon be taken care of, I have held off hoping my faucet outside is not frozen and it is getting a few degrees warmer until 4pm when it starts to drop again. I try to wait for the warmest part of the day before hooking the hose up to see if it will be not frozen. The ducks all seem to be doing well and don't seem to mind the cold or the wind which is howling right now. More snow will come later in the week. I can hardly wait! LOL

What? You didn't build a fire for them to warm their toes by??

Good to hear that you did not had to drive a school-bus today! Enjoy the unexpected free day and stay warm.

O contraire Monsieur! - To add insult to the injury, i started to laugh at them. I wish i had my phone me when they started sliding downhill! There was a similarity to a bowling game…
Here you can see some insulted dux, walking carefully back to their house:
