I hope they don't figure out how to get IN the pool. Last summer they had their wings clipped. But I haven't redone that again since they never have tried to fly off.

I have heard of people having wild ones get in their pools. Hopefully they will not get in yours. They can make quite the mess, lol.

They were probably hoping I was dead so they could eat me.

We lost a duck yesterday.... Or so we thought.

I came back in the evening from the regular dog patrol and everyduck was OK. An hour later one was missing.

We packed up the others and went looking... With a flashlight... Calling duck-duck-duck...

Nothing in the orchard.
Nothing in the outside orchard.
Nothing around the field.
No duck
Sneaky fox, that's 2 this year (

However, context:
- 3 of the ducks are broody ("broody" - it's not at all sure anything will come of it, I think they are poseurs)
- 1 duck in the other house was also trying to set up a nest but I kept frustrating her attempts
- and this is the house / flock from which one duck was missing, so hmmm....

Found her today deep in the black raspberries when she hissed at the dog who was rummaging around

Are broody ducks and super rapey drakes going to stop anytime soon? They have been at it full steam for two months now.

My rapey drakes started in March here, they are still going strong too. They won't want to quit until around October or November and even then will still act out every once in a while, just not as bad. I am lucky they are all small so that my girls do not really get hurt by them. My Hens still think they are going to hatch out babies and I have to convince them they are not by stealing the eggs. Funny ducks.
