@Flaisure I think I have seen some with red in their hackles. I'm not positive though. Looks like hens I use to have years ago. I posted photos of them earlier in this thread.

Hello all. My sapphire gem chick that I bought at TSC was supposed to be a pullet, but HE is not. lol

I got three that are about 17 weeks now they have tiny combs and they are black in color. One of them feathers have turned very dark. So I’m not much help I say give it a few more weeks (2-3) and you should know for sure. How old is she suppose to be?

They are adorable! My sg girl is always one of the first of my flock to greet me and check to see if I brought treats! She’s definitely outgoing. Here’s an updated photo of her at just over six months old.

Heres Gemma and Winter at three weeks...Obviously ones dark and ones light colored.Growing a bit faster than the other 15 Delawares and Barred Rocks.

Thanks! They are cuties. They flock to my feet every morning I feed, and I pet them and pick a few up and talk to them. They are such sweet birds. I free range them all day and they do so well. Had to post this.

These are my Gems plus 1 sexlink. I’m suspecting at least one may be a roo. I think Penny is going to be renamed Falcon but I’ll give it a few more weeks to see if that comb turns pink or not. They just turned 3 weeks so I need to update their pictures. Some of the angles on these pictures make the comb appear bigger than it really is but Penny’s is noticeably bigger than the others. Out of the 3 batches of chicks I have raised these are by far my favorite. I can put my hand out and most of them will hop right on it. Jazz is the first to hop on my hand and cuddle up with me. Gem is also super sweet but not quite as bold. Penny usually avoids me but surprisingly hopped right onto my hand the other day.
