Tis Time for a March 2020 Hatch-a-long!

So we are getting an old retired hen on Saturday and trading her for 3 pullets from my chicks I just hatched. Told them if the get a cockerel to come trade it for a pullet.

let her do her thing in private! I kinda wish I could catch mine in the act, but they run out as soon as I open the nesting box door.

One of ours laid an egg while we were working inside the coop. She didn't even care we had power tools and everything going.

It was an accident! Just a regular morning check . . . she must have been too far along to run away, and I had my phone open. FWIW, I did apologise.

I won't be in the march hatch along the mother nature is to unpredictable here in Nebraska and Kansas. Warm and sunny one day and full out raging snow storm the next day. So he's shipping them when mother nature can behave herself.

I know I'll be hatching in April, too! And probably May, let's face it

Oh yeah I have marans eggs coming in april. Good thing for multiple incubators.

I was really hoping to have things going about two weeks ago, but it didn't work out. On the plus side, if I do get some hatched in March, I might be able to get THEM bred this December, which would "right my sails" so to speak on when I want my breedings happening going forward.

Last year I started setting in March or April and I didn't have anything hatch until August
