I would agree that some people just do not get a break and that goes for the rich and the poor. I am by no means rich but I am not poor either but did come from a dirt poor family that really never got out of the Great Depression. In my own case I have a highschool education and through hard work and desire to not be broke have managed to get by. I had individuals that helped me along the way and the government has helped also but my differences are that I worked for every penny I have, it was not easy in fact sometimes it downright sucked but I was always figuring a way to make work easier and make more money but was not whining, complaining or telling anyone who would listen how unfair life is it just seemed pointless and useless. Oh and I was also accountable for my decisions however good or bad they were.

You would be richer if you worked harder.

I'm poor and don't resent the wealthy. I resent the sense of entitlement that many of the wealthy have.
I have always been below the poverty level as well and I think that the main thing that folks of ALL classes should learn is how to live within their means. No I don't have a cell phone because I know that is an expense that I don't need. Instead of paying for HBO or CINEMAX I watch any movie or show I want on NETFLIX for $8 a month. Too many that I know that are not in any better financial circumstances than I am feel ENTITLED to having others pay for the things that they themselves can not afford. They insist on government issued cell phones, healthcare, and food stamps. My father worked three jobs when I was little to make sure that we stayed off of the government dime but now adays folks seem to be too willing to sign up for things that are being handed out simply because they are there. It's time for folks to get back to the basics and put aside things that (while are nice to have) are not neccessary. Stop using credit cards and pay in cash. If you want a new television, wait until you can buy it free and clear. Don't choose one that started off being priced $700 and end up paying over a grand by the time it is paid off after interest. Instead, save up and be satisfied with the $200 television. For dinner, know your budget and go meatless a night or two a week. We ALL need to live more simply right now. And don't begrudge others that have a bit more than you do. Some how I remember a commandment about that. "Thou shalt not covet".

Well said!
I have a cell phone, but it is my only phone. Also, my husband gets a 20% discount through his employer (no, not a government job).

I love your avatar!

Do any of the people you know, feel entitled to rape? To kill? What about brutalizing children and immigrants? I know it sounds extreme, me asking that, but that is precisely the sense of entitlement that I am referring to. I couldn't care less if someone has more than me, it is when that wealth clouds ones judgment that it becomes a problem.

A LOT of very rich people have committed heinous crimes, yet get off nearly scot free because they have the money to throw around or their parents "know somebody". When another's wealth is used to hurt me or other people, and not suffer the consequences, it is a very big problem. I covet nothing, nor begrudge those with more than me, and my only desire is to live my life with out needlessly suffering at the hands of people that are drunk on money and the sense of entitlement that goes with it.

As for poor people who do that? They are screwed. No monetary backing means nobody gives a darn about you, and the faster you go to prison. Money is a large deciding factor on punishing people.

I'd say that it is true that money makes for an unbalanced legal system, but I have sadly met people from all monetary backgrounds that yes, feel very entitled to take what they want if you will. Sadder still, they did get away with it.

Love it. Ahhh anyways, I do agree that people sorely need to get back to basics. It would help to become more self sufficient, there's only so much blame a person can level at a politician.

My great grand parents owned a large amount of land, and nearly everything they ate or had came from their own hands or their livestock. I gotta wonder what they'd think about the state of things.

You're right punk-a-doodle. I honestly don't think clear cut categories are even possible. People are people. The good, the bad, and all the others in between and beyond. Case by case basis, I suppose.

Quote: Actually, yes. My mother (Who is mentally ill) married a man that murdered a woman in cold blood in CHURCH then sued his Public Defender for not trying to say that he was crazy at the time of the crime. This man (May God have mercy on his soul because I wouldn't) committed many horrid crimes and in essence got away with most of them.

There are psychopaths in every walk of life that will know just how to take advantage of the system. This only proves that the system needs to be fixed.

I would love to live more like your great grandparents! We've been saving up to do just that, but man is it expensive to get land and a start. :hmm Farming hasn't seemed to have been in my family for a good long while, but I've always been curious as well what my grandparents would have thought about relying so heavily on corporate/gov food systems if they had grown up with chickens and food gardens. I wonder as well what effects we'd see if more people grew their own food again?
