What do you think of the new BYC platform?

I've been gone for awhile and just recently logged back on out of curiosity about the new platform.

The first thing that hit me with a sour note are the eye-searing blue shades in the header that contrast so jarringly with the natural colors of the hen image on the left. The page background itself is WAY too bright white and actually makes me squint while I'm trying to read the posts.

The jumbled and crowded content set-up, especially that right column, is irritating and intrusive. I would want to know how to get rid of that column while I'm viewing. Thank heavens I learned a long time ago how to eliminate every ad on every page I view using Firefox. And loading time is erratic and much slower.

Not very user-friendly, I'm afraid. It's like dozens of people shouting for your attention in a crowded room.

BTW, is there an option in updating one's profile to hide online status? I like my privacy while jumping around to different sections.

I had a good laugh and had to share it with you all.
My 5 year old daughter came up to me wile I was here on BYC and asked," Daddy why are you on a Smurf site? Smurfs are for kids." She say all the blue and thought smurfs.

I like it...but I have to agree, it does look more jumbled than before. On the old platform everything looked so organized. I guess it was because there weren't too many fancy colors, borders or backgrounds. I do like the tabs at the top though! Just may take getting used to...

I guess it would be fine if I could get to the "hatching eggs" that are for sale. Blank screen. There seems to be people viewing this sections but it says "Private", so I guess I will have to resort to going back to Ebay.

9 pages of PM messages with over 400 PMs from 2007 to delete is locking up my computer when I try deleting. Why did all the messages ride along with people to this "new" site when they were suppose to have been deleted when we felt we needed more space?

I'm going to give it a few days before I vote. It's sort of like a good friend had a face lift and I don't quite recognize them. So, we'll see.

I use my droid phone. And honestly not sure I like it. The old platform
was easy to read.
This just looks generic. I liked the uniqueness of the old one better.
Not to mention I have a nice little note saying my rich text editor is not compatible.
???
Overall ... while there may have been a need for a new platform, this one is thumbs down.
I guess I'll check back later and see if its changed/updated to something ...better...

I do not like how I can no longer easily copy and paste and use html on my own. Its going to make things slower and really get on my nerves fast. I usually abandon forums that do this or not join at all.


I can't spellcheck via right click. Rightclick is totally meaningless now.
I hate how after I put in a thread subject and click in this big window to write the body, it moves my page down to show just the white page!


I HATE this setup like the majority does....yuk!

Sorry but I DISLIKE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thing I loved about the original home page was seeing the latest "Chicken of the Week"

and the ease of getting around the site and the seeing the latest forum postings in living yellow

This new one I do not like one bit!! not user friendly at all, at least to me, and hurts my eyes! Maybe I will get used to it eventually

Just my 2 cents worth and I visited your old site EVERY evening. Just like Facebook I don't understand why someone has to manipulate a sure fire good thing....:-(
