Thanks for all the suggestions, they're great! None of them are jumping out to me yet tho. The name list is a great idea. I will get one started and put it on my fridge!
Thank you for your story.
I grew up in the sticks. No phones, TV or electricity, for years!
I've always had a lot of animals. My family as always tried to proved as much at home as possible.
I intend to sell chicks, hatching eggs, and possibly worm boxes and chicken tractors.
Those are things...
I'm not interested in using the town name or the road name. I'm in Mendocino county (Northern CA) There really isn't any significance to me user name, its from a song, lol.
The house is on about 40 acres, facing the west mostly. I'm not understanding the C-Note suggestion? What does that mean?
We have chickens (almost 100!), ducks, turkeys, horse, meat rabbits, and dogs. There are no real landmark type things to name it after. Its on a mountain, but everywhere is a mountain around here!
I'm hoping for something catchy or clever, but not silly.
Thanks!
Ok. I have one last egg in this set left to hatch. It pipped over 24 hours ago, I still see a little movement in that hole it made, but no progress has been made AT ALL! its at the end of day 22. Any advice?
I've got a lavander orpington that hatched earlier today. He's warm, dry, and he WON'T STOP PEEPING?! what am I missing? He should be happy as can be and he is peeping non stop
Lock down on my second set today! These are an assortment I ordered from Gabbard, half didn't develop, and from candling last night I only have 4 that look right! Hoping I get some healthy chicks to add to my others from the weekend
The ones that hatched this am were from my own bantam eggs. The detached air cell ones go into lock down on Monday. I just candled them and most look like they stopped developing a few days ago :( they'll go into LD anyway, but it doesn't look promising.
I am on another hatch thread too, but I have so many different hatch days I can join this one too! I have a dozen Polish and 2 dozen mixed shipping out tomorrow. So excited!
all of my eggs are being incubated in egg cartons with the bottoms cut open for circulation. They have been automatically turned up to this point. Last night I shut the turner off so I can turn them by hand. Turning 136 eggs by hand takes some time! Hopefully turning all of them by hand will...
