Hi guys...
Ok, I know you get a california white leghorn by crossing a CA grey leghorn with a white leghorn. My ? is that I am ordering california white leghorns from a hatchery and I want a rooster so the line will continue. I already have a wonderful rooster who is quiet, gentle= really...
Hi everyone...
I noticed yesterday my roo was very lethargic... Mystery roo of mysterious age (craigslist give away). When let out to free roam yesterday, he sat to drink water from a running hose... He never does that.
This morning noticed he had trouble walking...
Tonight I brought him...
Pls. forgive me if this is the wrong place....
I am looking for high quality Welsummer hatching eggs. By high quality I mean really spectacular egg color: teracotta, dark brown, speckled- any and all of these...
If you are interested in selling, please contact me...

Hi everyone...
Thank you so much for your help in the past!
Seems I got my friends interested in keeping chickens- I did warn them it is highly addictive- so they are leaving the choice of chickens up to an already confirmed chicken addict- me!
They mainly want egg production, color doesn't...
Hi everyone...
I know this is probably the wrong space, but I figured people behaviours fell most closely to this catagory. Hopefully the mods will move it if it is too incorrectly placed.
My father told me he was watching a tv show and it featured famous people that are raising their own...
Hi...
I had heard that you can sprinkle wood ashes on fresh chicken poop and that neutralizes ?? or some how makes the poop ready to go in the veggie garden as fertilizer...
Does that sound right to you?
How much ash to how much poop?
Thank you,
Misty
Me again... This has been much, much harder then when I decided I wanted chickens!
So, I want ducks because they look nice in the yard, I enjoy them swimming, I might enjoy their eggs and I might be able to bring myself to harvest them for dinner. (I never think of doing that with my...
Hi everyone...
Still struggling with getting ducks....
I really like the idea of getting Pekins- but how loud are they?
I know it is subjective, but it is that they quack all the time but at low volume? (volume in the sense of a radio speaker turned up or down)
All the time at high volume...
Hi everyone,
I asked this question in the duck section but got little response.
I have been thinking of getting pekin ducks- but I am concerned my usually quiet (extremely!! except for a morning wake up call) rooster will become more vocal if the noisy pekings are around.
Anyone have...
I have a mystery breed rooster- should know more when the hens lay this spring, but he is marvelous because as roosters go he is very quiet. A few crows early morning and then zip for the rest of the day!!!!
I did chicken-sit a silkie rooster and man, when the silkie crowed, my rooster chimed...
Anyone here have experience in which breed is the better dual bird? Looking for quantity of eggs, quality of meat, temperance (really noisey?), friendly... etc.
Just racking my head trying to pick out the duck breed that is best for me...
Thank you,
Misty
Hi everyone,
I am thinking of adding to my chickens with ducks and now perhaps geese. But I need the critters to be quiet so I don't anger the neighbors...
Is this possible in geese?
Thank you,

Hi everyone...
I am thinking about getting Muscovy ducks, but I like the taste of traditional duck and want to know who I should have join my 'scovies.
But since I want it all, I am hoping for meat as well as eggs.
With neighbors so close by, sound is an issue- what do you think would make...
Pls. forgive the brevity of this post- technical problems and using friends computer. But I really want to find a source for Muscovy ducks- even if I have to hatch them. I live in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Hi everyone...
Ok, maybe I am grasping at straws but 4 out of 4 of my 8 week old chickens are developing bumps right where spurs should be...
Spurs, right?
Any other possibility?
Misty
Hi everyone...
I just had a marans hatch but it's umbilical cord is still attached and the area surrounding it looks to be filled with liquid and puffy.
?????
I don't see how to post a pic... Hopefully you understand what I am talking about..
M.
I just got my hatching eggs but many are broken and the egg mess in on the surviving eggs. Wash them off or not before putting them in the incubator?
What does this do to the hatch viability? (The egg mess and the rough handling?)
Thanks,
Misty
