Living on an 80 acre homestead in NE Wisconsin you will find our lines dancing in the skins our ancestors shed. We belong to an upright family of smooth skins. We have convinced them to do away with fence and wire and allow us to run our own security outfit...
I'm working with two lg still airs. I've had great hatches and had terrible hatches. I noticed that the seal got worse as time goes by but a book or counter weight adjust it to a good fit. Mine holds temp like a charm though. They are easy to modify and aren't hard to operate. Bang for your...
Just a terrible situation. I hope that the world spins back right for you...and while it's spinning your neighbors dogs are cast into a fiery lake of destruction. Electric fence is a charming and effective way to protect. After it's installed maybe the neighbor will volunteer to test it's circuitry.
What I would do for a good broody. Because I am no good at hatching eggs. Has a broody hen ever starved herself completely? I know my gals get skinny but I always see them get down and get a fix several times in the process. I think you may be sad when your boyfriend see,s all her little eggs...
I'm hatching today in Wisconsin...maybe build yourself a micro brooder for the little guy. Yolko solo, I had a single this summer but one of my game birds took it in. A shoebox and desk lamp. I hope you get a feasible solution.
I contacted the USDA about my bear troubles. They sent out an agent who's determining factor for action was my girls 11, 5, & 5 at the time. Shooting the bear was not an option and I would weigh yours out as well. The police told me I should shoot at her like the ground in front of her. Strapped...
Well we had our eggs set and turning but the power has been out for three days now. I am assuming the worst. Watching the sun rise this morning and seeing the inside temp at 49 degrees the little peeps are not fairing well. I suppose there is worst things to worry about. The freezers are...
We put down 24 yesterday at midnight. This is my first time hands free. I picked up a turner yesterday. Best of cluck with your homemade incubator. I too was done with chicks for the year but.....
Here we go again....
I'm just now working a camper coop in. I told someone I was looking and it showed up free. For the price and space...It works awesome. Roosts and dividers and nest boxes galore. I recovered 7 eggs out of it today so the hens are liking the new space as well. It isn't pretty but it does it's job...
I've only did it once...hatching right now. I didn't expect much success but planned on several and that's all I really needed. I did it more out of the need to say...see those birds...had the eggs shipped in from NC and hatched them out in the mudroom. I wouldn't do it if I were expecting high...
***We interrupt your regularly scheduled incubator broadcast to bring you this Update from the Cheddar Curtain***

Day 21 and now...
I've got the new coop placed and we are getting ready for the hatch. I kind of like the last three days...I get more things done. My water is filled and we are waiting for the show.
