    Pomeranian Goose Breed Thread

In 2016 we hatched out 5 Pomeranian geese. We gave 2 to a friend and kept 3. Then in January we had a pack of coyotes take our only female and 2 ducks. We were left with 2 ganders. Was a bit of a rough spring as they tried to have their way with the female ducks and chickens... Well the friend...

Ugh I didn't get so lucky with the khaki Campbell's, I got 4 males 2 females. We're having a processing weekend this weekend... Gotta get rid of 3 of the males, then about 7 roosters, and maybe some rabbits. Gonna be a long weekend...

They're only about 10 days old. I've gotten pretty good at "estimating" if it's a boy or girl by if they have a skin fold around their bits this little. But still not a guarantee lol. I'll check this evening.

For best color results red should only be bred to another red. I have read you might be able to breed to a lynx, but may not be best for color. The broken red we got is a girl, so can't even offer her lol. I do have my lynx buck, did a trial breeding to my opal girl to see if he is genetically...

We do sell the kits, currently we have the month olds: 3 castors, 1 broken castor and a broken red (we're keeping). And the new litters are just starting to get their fur. We have loads of broken kits (either 6 chocolate or castor can't tell yet, 1 opal, 2 lynx maybe) and 3 solids (2 castor, 1...

I've been offline for a while lol I got some khaki campbell ducks. They are all outside as of 2 weeks ago. The turkeys we got at the same time are so funny, they like to run laps around the ducks as fast as they can, but if they get separated from the ducks be prepared for the weirdest calls...

Can't tell yet. If I go by the noises they made with their "bath" yesterday, I'd say we got 2 boys and 4 girls. We also have one that is developing a tuft on it's head.... The girls aren't "quacking" yet, but they are MUCH louder than the 2 I think are boys.

Our duckies are making a mess of our brooder, but they're completely covered in pin feathers right now!! So hopefully by next weekend they can go out to with the big ducks!

They should! My male welsh harlequins made a good size. Khakis are similarly built so should be good!

@Ducks4us Oy you've got your hands full with the ducklings! They're going to get wet and stinky fast now! But I do love my Duckies! My husband says no ducklings until late spring because he doesn't want to keep them in the garage in the brooder for very long because of the wet and stinky.

Ugh, So ready for the snow to be gone. The couple of inches we got blew all up against my goose coop, thru the "goose yard" so it was knee deep in fresh snow when I went out there yesterday morning. Half melted yesterday thank goodness, but the rest needs to go away so we can finish fencing...

We have plenty of chickens, but I do want to get more swedish flower chickens tho, because our rooster of that breed has something neurological going on, he couldn't hold his head up. But he's better about being upright now, but he stumbles/falls a lot. Thought it was botulism, thought maybe...

So either during the day, or early evening hours before we got home, we had our first 4 legged predator attack. We're thinking coyotes b/c they took 1 goose and 2 ducks with them. And the scat was looser than a domesticated dog. Rather upset about it, because it was my buff Pomeranian goose...
